Francine and I are staring into a hole that has Shockingly appeared and will never be filled in this lifetime. Bob (Bob & Lil) were a real presence that was felt by many but most especially by Fran and me.
Bob was an only child, but he and I have been Brothers for 30 Plus years. We have shared myriad experiences… everything from tough competition against each other on the tennis courts, to grief over friends and loved ones lost. Both of us, 1950’s Airmen, we had laughs with can-you-top-this-tales of, back then which we thought were miserable times, but now shared as if some of the best times of our life. Mine tales, Sketchy but Bob’s displayed his remarkable forever memory. He always amazed me when he would begin a tale with, “March 30 1956…. Etc.” Only Bob!
Bob’s tales always displayed his unique sense of storytelling humor. How can the nearly a dozen years of every week dinners Fran, me, Lil & Bob … Breakfast with Bob weekly for 20 years… Meals we can talk about but experiences that can never adequately be shared.
There is no way to tell all of our “War-Stories,” or explain our relationship with all its complexities. The on Tennis Court doubles partnership, the singles combat we indulged in. . . Well, There is just a hole where “we” used to be. We hope and believe Bob was brought back home for a reason we may never understand until it is our time to rejoin him. I know Bob is going to be shocked when he now knows the faith I have was a real thing and he continues on and will be there to Welcome us Home to.

Bob was a life long friend of my step-father, Harold. I met him and Lily when I visited my mom & Harold. After Harold’s passing, Bob and Lily often checked on my mother, Valerie. Bob had a contagious laugh and was a kind, caring man. My heart goes out to Lily and the rest of the family. May his memory be a blessing to all who loved him.

Bob was a loving and caring friend. My husband Harold and Bob were life-long friends. With my husband Harold and Bob’s wife Lily, we had some lovely day trips to Wisconsin and Illinois and met up with them when we both vacationed in Florida. We often met up with them at local restaurants. I will miss his sense of humor and adventure. May his memory be a blessing to Lily, their extended family, and all who loved him.
